March '05 Ghorapani trek:
February started out with martial law, declared for one week, as the king took control of the beleagered nation of Nepal. Once again we were assured by our Nepalese family that tourism was continuing as usual.

We were treated with respect by the army, the Maoists, and welcomed with warm smiles and namastes by all. The sad fact however is that tourism is down and families are losing their businesses.

Mountain tribes are not getting their medicines for their clinics. However we arrived with bags of childrens clothes, school supplies, and vitamins.

One of the highlights was being served a nine-course Nepalese meal in Chitwan as guests of the Sauraha Resort family. Everyone came home with lifetime memories.

"Trekking in Nepal:
A challanging trail, beathtaking scenery, wonderful hospitality and an opportunity to interact with people experiencing a different way of life and yet sharing similar feelings and values--these were all part of the Nepal trekking trip. Nancy and Nick have established personal relationships with the people with whom we stayed and this made our experience much richer and memorable.

Then there were the fun activities: the elephant rides, floating down the river watching the crocodiles, encountering the rhinos and the monkeys and visiting ancient and interesting sites. And, in spite of rumours to the contrary, we felt safe and secure at all times and felt welcomed by the Nepalese.
A memorable experience, indeed!"

"The March 2005 Ghorepani Trek and tour of Nepal led by Nancy and Nick was an experience of a lifetime! I loved the intimacy of a small group, the diversity of ages, from 17 to 79, the casual informality of the daily schedule, and the close relationships developed with other group members including the Nepalese guide and sherpas. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone with a spirit of adventure.

The Trek was challenging, but comfortable. I am glad I put in some training time prior to the trip, but it was impossible to be totally prepared for the thousands of uphill and downhill steps! I was especially honored to be treated to a surprise birthday party during our trekt with balloons, streamers and the Nepalese version of a chocolate cake was a very special treat. Thank you, Nancy!"

Thank you for the gifts for our children; they are an answer to our prayers. The clothes that were too small we gave to other poor children. Madam you have such a good heart, why? I meet many people who say they give support but do not. I say actions speak louder than words!
